Bodies night and Bonny Night or is it Bonnie Night? Well, when you live in Portugal it’s not celebrated anyway but Bonfire Night in England was always a big night as a kid with treacle toffee and parkin. But it was also Bodies day and Bodies night, that is, in the day I went to the Bodies exhibition after my early sesh with Arktik Lake Tony in Oz, Olivia went later with a friend (whilst Liverpool were almost losing to Luton 1-1). Then there was Bodies the series, the last intriguing episode that left a fascinating cliffhanger. From fantasy to real bodies displayed, it was like a science day out, fascinating and possibly not for everyone but certainly wonderfully educational.
It was a long and pleasant walk down to the river, a rainy vibe but no actual rain. Tons of tourists. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s summer or sunny, there are always lots of visitors to this town. I heard all kinds of languages, Spanish, French, German, English, and even Portuguese! There were even languages I didn’t recognise. There were Americans, young and old, and all kinds of rain-prepared attire, only me in shorts, a T-shirt, and a waistcoat, I’m obviously hot-blooded, haha.
Back at the ranch, I was happy to sit and watch the football after an early morning and a hike down to the river and a hike back up the hills. I listened to Robin Trower’s Something’s About To Change (2014), which actually it doesn’t because it’s blues but if you like guitar tones, fingers with feeling, and the format, you can’t really go wrong.
Later we watched Ronnie on the big screen baize beating Ken. If you know the game, you’ll know the names. I lit some tea lights and some candles, some Nag Champa, and turned on the fairy lights and the lava lamps and sank into the mood of the room. It’s all about the lighting, I’m never comfortable under naked lights, or fluorescent lighting. I have an ambition to go to Morocco which is pretty close to here and come back with lots of moody red lamps and carpets.
Sesh with Sarah in Texas at midnight and that will be the day. A busy week of seshes, mixes and rehearsals as I start to think about the November shows in Spain and Portugal and get my fingers hard again – Olivia has to get back into it too.
Music today has been Robin Trower’s Something’s About To Change (2014), a great later Trower album with atmospheric grooves and mood, soft tones, mature, relaxed, and for its own sake.
