Today’s blog is just about the upcoming release of the Blueburst album Significance, in which I have been involved with talented sessioneer Craig Douglas Miller from Atlanta. He’s done it all before, in the nineties he was the singer in a band called The Reach who made records, so as they say in America, it’s not his first rodeo. But it has been a while, twenty years in fact since he made music and in the last year we’ve been working on getting back to speed. He sings, writes songs and plays guitar, he kindly gave me three co-writes on the record and I also play guitar and co-produce with Craig – we also have the talented Ben Etter mixing and doing some of the recording.
At this point, it has become a collaboration that also includes Michael Jerome on drums (currently touring with Better Than Ezra), Ryan Kelly (formerly of Athens, GA band Dayroom). The album was recorded in Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Savannah, Penzance, and Porto, using loads of guitars. At least 20, according to Craig – Gretsch, three different Telecasters, bass VI, four or five different Rickenbackers, a few Les Pauls, an SG, a Jazzmaster, Gibson J-45, Martin 12-string acoustic, and more.
All the information is below, there’s the first review (from Brazil, in Portuguese), and there are details of a live release party and an internet release party that I will attend. There’s also a limited number of vinyl copies of the album available now for pre-order.
