Oh yeah, slept through the night, always a result after an intercontinental trip. But then my tooth fell out. There’s always something, so I have to go to one of my great fears, the dentist. I have what’s known as ‘English teeth’, I have seven missing, three crowns and a mouth full of metal. I once went to the dentist in Sweden and when I opened my mouth and she looked inside she said, “Oh my God, who has done this to you?” She said she’d never seen such bad work.
The day started early because the painting crew arrived shortly after 9 AM to continue with the renovations, I was up already anyway and trying to get used to the idea that I wasn’t in the studio today. I looked around me and there were piles of furniture and kitchen stuff and clothes and records and carpets and discarded blinds and plants and plastic sheets…and no shower. The internet still worked though and I attempted to catch up whilst feeling that weary jet lag feeling in the middle of the day. I haven’t been able to get to all the emails yet, but I will in the coming days. Sessioneers who know how busy I have been in Texas with other sessioneer projects are getting back in touch as the days continue disappearing into a blur – and then my tooth fell out.
Mafalda, Suze and Hayden painted Greek blue and orange and trimmed pink and turquoise as The Archive starts to take shape. All we need now is the content and we’re hoping for that this autumn if we can raise the funds to cover it. The café across the road has put a deck right outside our door with three tables and an umbrella, creating more vibe in the street. The ladies of the day eat there as it’s just a door down from their building. Today they were there at 9.30 AM with customers and they will be there till the early hours. What a life, at least their teeth aren’t falling out.
I had a sesh with Valley of Salt NJ Brian but hadn’t managed to get my studio speakers fixed up yet, so I’m trying to remember how to do that. I’ve had to move the studio from the studio room to the bedroom because that room needs to be painted next and I have to clear the space, there’s not much you can do about getting paint on your iMac, except try to avoid it. We got real brown rice-type veggie food for dinner and ate over The Mandalorian, my tooth was already gone by then, so I was happy for soft food. The dentist beckons, I have to go, that’s my third broken tooth that I’ll be carrying around.
Music today was many things as I played album after album just purely because I had my stereo again and new albums to play on it. One of today’s stand-outs though was the Jeff Buckley – Grace CD, what a tragedy.
