The heat persists, but now we are relieved that it’s only 99°F/37°C. When we get back to Porto, 79°F/26°C will seem like the middle of winter. The priming has begun at The Archive, the painting has been started in the front part, the room is now fire engine red, and if you’d like to see progress, Olivia has posted a video on the @indeepporto Instagram page.
It’s Tess (cello) day and that’s always a great day as she brings her bow and her lowest notes. We had her play on four songs in a four-and-a-half-hour period and this would have taken much longer if she hadn’t received songs to map out their arrangements, coming into the studio knowing what you’re doing is useful, plus she is a great player – you have to be on the cello. Later on, Rich came in to play keyboards, he was so prepared that he’d played his parts on two songs so quickly that we were disappointed to not hang with him longer.
The days are so full of studio that there is little time for anything else, I mean ‘no time’ for anything else, squeezing in sleep and showers. I have to be done by Friday because sessioneer Craig is coming for the weekend and then Monday is the last day, Tuesday we are gone. Porto = Sleep.
Music today has been The Beatles‘ Magical Mystery Tour, love it.
