If you were unable to find the Noctorum album Offer The Light on Record Store Day yesterday, there will be some available at schoolkidsrecords.com from Monday. It seems so random as to who has it and who doesn’t. I imagine the shop has to order it to get it which is a reason why it’s good to contact your local record store beforehand and ask them if they are getting it in, or can they order it because you are going to be wanting it. Lots of people have told me they found it and lots have told me they didn’t. It was available in my local record store here in Porto so you would think it should be available in major cities in America at least, who knows, contact Schoolkids Records while stocks last.
Sunday is often multiple seshes day and today was no different. Today was some of the projects I have been working on or will be working on at some point in the future. Ongoing are: Space Summit with Jed, Tony’s Arktik Lake, Afridi/Willson-Piper, NJ Brian’s Valley of Salt, Fred Argir’s solo project, Brian and Nathan’s The Simpletons and we have just mixed a John Pasagiannis single in Brooklyn where Rajan will be working on his debut EP. Craig’s Blueburst has a great new single out, Supernova, lots going on in sessioneer land.
All this activity had me stay in all day today, that and Newcastle 6 – Spurs 1, some mad snooker massacres and generally avoiding weird Sundays outside where everything changes, as if the aliens have got inside everyone’s heads and made them do things they wouldn’t normally do.
I was getting a weird crackling in my stereo system. I looked it up and it said it could be caused by an interruption in the electrical current and advised me to check all the connections. So I just switched it off and hoped it would go away, haha. When I switched it on today it seemed to have gone, that’s one way of solving things, hope.
Olivia found a secretaire on Facebook Marketplace for 80€, it was painted turquoise with gold splodges. It was cool but the splodges looked quite, well, splodgy, so when she picked it up she asked the lady if she still had the turquoise paint and she did. So Olivia painted over the splodges and continued on to the electricity cupboard and the place where the water is turned on. So now we suddenly have three striking turquoise moments in the front, the beginning of our plan to get South American with the colours in here.
With no cooker, dinner is proving awkward as is showering with no shower on busy days when getting up to the hotel or the gym in the rain isn’t so easy. Today I ate KFC fries for dinner because there’s one around the corner, terrible, but at least it wasn’t an expensive repeat.
Music today has been Marc Almond’s Shadows and Reflections (2017), a tribute to sixties orchestral pop. I’ve always liked his cabaret, his love of Scott Walker, and his exaggerated sense of drama.
