So there was an alligator in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, I used to jog there. Perhaps a little scarier than the mega wasp (that was probably a hornet) although there’s something about creatures that fly and sting that might be scarier than being face-to-face with an alligator. Stinging alligators with wings would be the worst of all worlds. So the fear of reptiles is herpetophobia but I was wondering what’s the fear of Reptile?
We were up earlyish today for a meeting in Gaia with our accountant and social security, exciting stuff, although our accountant is super cool. We got there and they told us that they no longer do appointments in person although they did when the appointment was booked. So they must have known they were stopping doing this when the appointment was booked for a date after they stopped. Oh dear, you just have to move on and wonder.
I went to Tubitek today to pick up two albums that had arrived, Inhaler – Cuts & Bruises (2023) and Slow Pulp – Moveys (2020). I met Castro in there and Luisa, two music fans, Castro looks after events at the Hard Rock Café. José showed me the CD of the James Yorkston/Nina Persson album that I had ordered, looking forward to that one, I’m a fan of Persson’s voice and Yorkston’s records.
From there up to the cafe around the corner to meet Olivia with her swan mirror that she’d picked up a song. We were waiting for the furniture van to arrive – we’d bought two second-hand blue-covered comfy chairs, a longish covered bench, two old-fashioned radiators, and some wooden stands for stereos or studio gear. We now have one packed section of stuff that we’ve had to buy, including baffles for the studio side. We will collect all this and everything basic from our soon to be vacated flat, put it all in two rooms and go away to the UK for a month. Valuable stuff will go into storage till we have a measure of how good the security is. We need a new front gate, an alarm and insurance but we need the renovation to start while we are away so we can come back to somewhere.
We left and on the way for coffee it unexpectedly started to rain, then it poured so we took shelter in coffee land, before venturing out again and getting trapped in a dodgy second-hand clothes store until it finally stopped and we shuffled home via the Chinese store to pick up bubble wrap. Once we were back home we looked around us at the job that we had to do and were glad of 10 days to do it. A normal day for movers.
Music today coincidentally fell again onto 1971 and Nektar’s Journey To The Centre Of The Eye, their debut album. I imagine it’s been a while since you played this one.
