Today we’re happy to announce the pre-order availability for the Space Summit album, Life This Way, on CD and vinyl, including a digital download. The CD will be released September 10th and the LP early next year on very limited blue vinyl with just 500 available. All pre-orders will be sent a digital download of the complete album. The first single, I’m Electric, was released two weeks ago to positive reviews and there will be a video coming soon. This will be the first album from the Sessioneer Series with Arktik Lake and Afridi/Willson-Piper coming in the next few weeks. You can hear the first Space Summit single, I’m Electric, here and Shimmer, a song from the Arktik Lake limited 200 aquamarine vinyl 4-track EP, here. We hope to have a digital download of the Afridi/Willson-Piper album In The End, The Birds Will Sing available in August. We’ll keep you posted.
PRE-ORDER SPACE SUMMIT’S LIFE THIS WAY HERE
It was a lovely hot day, perfect for the São João festival and although Olivia and I got up very late today after going to bed with the dawn, we managed to find ourselves winding through the streets towards a fair with Ferris wheels, dodgems, candy floss (fairy floss, cotton candy), and lots of kids running around. We queued for ten minutes to get in whilst they checked everyone’s temperature but we didn’t stay long, it was a great place for families and their children and queues for farturas but we were soon looking for the underground (subway) to take us into the centre of town for a coffee and walk up our street towards Marquês. Olivia was seduced by sushi on the way home and I ate hundreds of avocado rolls.
I was on the phone with Brix Smith today and Anekdoten Nicklas trying to plan the coming months. I also spoke to Shawn from the removal company and storage about the moving of the archive from England to Portugal and then Ahad and Jed about our two finished albums with their imminent and impending releases. With lots of sessions coming and potential albums for the future being discussed everything has to be planned way in advance and at this point, we do actually have confirmed gigs for Anekdoten in 2022. It’s ten months away so I told Nicklas today that we’d better start rehearsing, welcome to progressive music.
29th April 2022 – Babel, Malmö
30th April 2022 – Musikens Hus, Gothenburg
1st May 2022 – Bryggarsalen, Stockholm
20th May 2022 – Montréal Terra Incognita Festival
21st May 2022 – Montréal Terra Incognita Festival
Other gigs for other projects are in the works but nothing is confirmed just yet but Olivia and I are planning a trip to the US at the beginning of next year. There are still lots of issues with travel at the moment that looks like it’s going to continue into the autumn (fall). I’m hoping this doesn’t impact my archive move, gigs, and everything else.
Music today was a forgotten album, Kitsch, by Heavy Metal Kids. It was their third album and featured Gary Holton on screechy vocals. I listened to this album a lot in the seventies and even saw them live at Liverpool Stadium where their Cockney wide boy act didn’t go down so well. It was ok when they played but when Holton talked, haha, then it was something else. Holton became known as an actor in the popular series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet but sadly died of a heroin overdose in 1985 aged 32. They had an almost hit with the song She’s No Angel.
