Steve Knott — geologist, musician, guitarist, composer
11th July 1960 – 15th May 2021
It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you that our friend and bandmate Steve Knott from Atlantaeum Flood has suddenly died. He passed last night after a stroke, so cruel and unexpected, this lovely man has left behind his wife Lynne who was also in our band with Olivia and Dare. There wasn’t a nicer or more generous man on the planet and the grief that all of us but most of all Lynne, his dedicated partner, is going through, is heartbreaking. Lynne and Steve were hardly apart and plans for future projects were in the works, including the follow-up to Atlantaeum Flood’s One Day with Atlantaeum Flood’s One Year. We were supposed to start recording in April 2020 but the pandemic hit and everything had to be cancelled. We were talking about playing shows and Steve was even looking at the MOAT songs to learn if we found ourselves together on stage so we could enlarge our repertoire. Steve was so proud of the album we made together, his brainchild, and a wonderful journey for me as a musician making my first instrumental album. The whole experience of working with Steve and Lynne together in the studio was wonderful. He went to school with Dare’s brother Dave in Thingwall on the Wirral close to Liverpool where we all grew up and later went to the same school as me, Woodchurch Sec, just a couple of years later. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife Lynne, who is the kindest woman you could ever meet.
If you would like to honour Steve and leave a message on the Atlantaeum Flood Facebook page, you will find it here. If you would like to hear the album we made together, you can hear it on all the streaming sites or you could purchase a vinyl or CD copy of the album whilst stocks last at Schoolkids Records.
REST IN PEACE, Steve. I cannot believe you are gone. We love you.
Marty, Olivia, and Dare
